 | I want to thank Betsy for this porridge recipe , I have used for the last year . The results have been exceptional to say the least.....I have ALWAYS used a combo of raw , kibble & lard..Since the addition of the porridge , energy levels have gone through the roof . muscling up a dog is much easier & it is cost effective ..Thanks Bets........Everything you need to make it can be found at Walmart : 3lb bag of BROWN rice $ 1.69.....4 Large sweet potatoes .55 cents a pound ......One large bunch of Collard or Turnip greens .99 cents a bunch ......Take a LARGE stock pot...peel the sweet potatoes & cut into small pieces...Chop the greens up ...pour in the rice & water in on top of it all. enough water to cover everthing ...bring to a roiling boil......reduce to a simmer....cover...let simmer for 1 1/2 hrs...stirring frequently.....let cool..Take a potato masher & mash it up....store in the refrigerator & use with in the week. Here's how I feed ....1/2 bones & meat ....1/4 kibble ....1/4 porridge ....2-3 table spoons of melted lard over the food . For pups I would grind up chicken thigh quarters , bones & all in a hand grinder . Then soak the ADULT dry dog food & mush that . Then mix accordingly ... John Ketchum | |||
