Ive had rescue dogs not want to eat the raw meat at first but of course after a couple days of not eating they figure out that its pretty good. I dont coddle those who are in transition. I feed just about everything (ie fruits veggies and various meats) but dont feed onions, grapes and a few other toxic foods. Your dogs will get to the point that as soon as you put down the food within a few seconds its all gone. Ive never (thank God) had to have a dental on any of my dogs and they have much better breath. And best of all NO GAS ! Yay!

To start them off with liver I bake it on a sheet pan and give it to them. Gradually cooking less and less until they are good with eating such a densely rich food with no problems. Tripe should not be cooked at all.

Thank you for the info. I was expecting you to say that , he should not breed, because of it...

I would say organ meat only once or twice a week Billy but some dogs handle it better then others. Very rich stuff

Great stuff on your food list there thanks!!!!

One thing i really pay attention to while feeding my guys other stuff is STAY AWAY FROM SALT!!!! or Sodium!!!!! Can fish for one in brine. Brine is salt too. Take it out of the can and wash and feed if u cannot get it fresh.

Wow, good info, Billy. Thanks.

Shantell, I had never thought about rinsing the fish out of the can. Will do from now on.

Billy those are called "satan balls", I got turned onto them from a friend who works in a rescue, they are awesome for sick dogs or under weight ones, I have used it as a way to add weight to males after not eating in a heat cycle or to add a little weight to show. I wouldnt advise feeding this as their only food though, it is packed with calories and really does put weight on like you said, I at one time got the brilliant idea to give them as treats LOL a couple girls looked like barrals with short stubby legs, they even had tail fat rolls

LOL Shatell I will have to dog pics up to show, of course they being my own dogs I didnt realize just how fat they were, these two really loved their food anyways and were easy keepers, one hit the ol roy I fed my pot belly pig every chance she got, and they both hijacked a fed ex truck once, must of been some good treats in packages, but really the drivers fault he didnt see them get in but when he realized they were in he couldnt get them out LMAO I wasnt home and dont know exactly how he got them out but he said he was there for a bit lol

Thanks for the advice Shantell and Heidi. I never though of to rinse the fish off first. Great idea i should know better being a chef and all and the sodium. I know it is outlawed in NYC to use or add salt on any food from what i heard. so I need to pay attention to the sodium. I dont feed as a only diet.
I use kible to and fish that i get from local fishamen or my sons from fishing good thing is we live on the coast of Florida. . I would like to start rising my own cows and chicken and come up with my own dog food. i have enough property and grass for it.
Hey ya know i didnt know the name Satan balls a friend and breeder for over 30 years gave me that
receipe years back.
