| Karen... I don't hide anything. Mandy is my real name. Many countries have male and female names that will strike those who have never left their backyard as strange. Having traveled the world many times over my idea of strange has changed and my mind has been opened. If you have not experienced much I will not blame you for that... Ignorance is not stupidity. I won't blame people for not knowing. I only blame them for insisting on staying ignorant... Because THAT is stupid. You are also wrong about why I am exposing Travers for what he really is. I have never bought a dog from him. Quite frankly I am too intelligent to buy a dog from such a person. I have seen too much, experienced way too much and definitely know much too much to fall for someone who thinks an IQ is something you clean your ears with. In my line of work I deal with sharks on a daily basis so a guppy with an attitude is a victim to me at best. If that little man screwed me over I would not be here talking about him on a web site. I would have spanked his illegal alien "Filtered Word" back into Canada and taken back what is mine. If people treat me with respect I will return the favor. But if someone crosses me I will be their most dedicated enemy for life. I am the kind of person that will stop at nothing if I feel I have been screwed. The ONLY reason why I talk about him is because I believe that people who want to adopt a K9 child do not deserve to be screwed over. I have nothing to gain but the knowledge that maybe someone saves themselves a world of heartache if they read this. You called that "man" a breeder... Watching 2 dogs copulate is something anyone can do... That, however, does NOT make you a breeder. This is why people like Travers are the bottom feeders and Stradone is on top. One of them is a real breeder (guess which one) and the other one is a redneck watching dogs copulate. I have said it before and I will say it again. There are GREAT breeders who deserve to be promoted. Honest people with REAL talent who are not only producing great dogs but are working on improving the breed. Why some of you insist on keeping this idiot in the circle is beyond me. Any other business or community would eat this guy alive. For some reason the world of dogs is the only place where people can screw someone with other people watching and everyone just sits there and watches it like a bunch of brain washed fools. I guess most of them figure that as long as he just screws other people its all good...? Unfortunately the real world does not work like this. People who think that they won't be affected by someone like Travers might think differently if they realized that any pups "sired" by Fortunado after Sherilyn Allen sold him to Travers were not actually Fortunado pups... That means that their offspring and all generations after that have now a false pedigree and none of them carry the genes to produce an awesome dog like Fortunado. I am not surprised that some will attack me for saying what I am saying. There will always be the less than intelligent out there who will jump to a criminals defense when someone makes a stand. Show me a criminal and I will show you a part of the population who will jump to his defense. Intelligence is on the brink of extinction as is demonstrated beyond a shadow of doubt in the dog community especially. I am lucky in that I don't have to be a part of this community... I am lucky because all I really care about is having the privilege of living with these great dogs. I have the resources and the knowledge it takes to make the right decisions regarding my four legged family members. I am not here to make friends... I am here when I find the time every now and then. When I do I like to point out the bad guys to those who are new. You asked me the same question the other guy kept asking me over and over again... Had you read or understood my responses you would not have asked me the same question yet again. What is so difficult about understanding my answer...? For the last time... I do not want to share my life story with a bunch of strangers who might be no better than Travers... Those few people who are of substance and care to get to know me can and will in time. There are some people (very few of them) within this community who know me very well. Those are all people of substance and worth. These are the only people whom I share my story with. My dogs are my family... I don't need to come to a web site to yap about them trying to show off. They are much too precious to me. If you want to take Gary's side be my guest. That shows those of us who are proud owners of functioning brains all we need to know about you. When life hands you lemons... Kick it in the balls. But you can understnd the confusion,  Point also taken about the heads up, as i said previously warning others is comendable and you are correct, too many do ignour whats going on in front of them. For the record I try not to take sides, and I am certainly not on the side of Mr Gary Travers, please do not insult us just because we ask questions about your reasons for posting, there is no need for name calling no-one has insulted you, you can hardly blame anyone for questioning yur reasons for these posts when they are launched in this manner... With that I will wish you good luck, unfortunately, even with all these reports flying about on the internet, people like Travers will still continue to trade in human and canine misery, Many many newbies to this breed do not realise there are sites such as this, how to research breeder prior to purchasing a dog and jump in with both feet, but thats a human trait ... The only way to stop him trading in misery is to stop people buying. The forces that would make a difference like the AKC and KC tend to do very little apart from issue a slap on the wrist! A months suspension from activities? whats that all about? any litter born in that time to these 'operaters' will simply have birth dates altered.... so whats the point of that? You are correct is as much that more needs to be done about these 'bottom feeders' as you so aptly called them, and you are not the only one who despises the people that deal in this type of misery. | Well, I believe that there is much to be learned from a proper Mastino... A proper Mastino should not bite without reason and is usually quite peaceful but when he is being assaulted, disrespected or his loved ones are threatened his capacity for violence is unprecedented. I believe a man should act in the same manner. I know that in today's society any kind of aggression is looked down upon but my believes are different. I believe that there is a time for kindness just as there is a time for aggression. Thank you for understanding my point of view... I know that my ways don't always make me the most popular guy on the playground but at least there is no question where anyone stands with me. I agree with what you said about the AKC slapping people on the wrist for dishonest behavior. In fact... I don't believe that the AKC is a blessing to this breed in any way shape or form. In theory it might look good but if you look at the facts it is a completely different story... It is the Kennel Club and the AKC protective umbrella under which breeds like the GSD, the English Bulldog and many other breeds have become sickly and often downright crippled breeds which are a far cry from what they once were. We have Rottweilers which do not protect, GSD's which cannot herd or even run for any extended period of time and of course the English Bulldog which cannot mate, breed, run or even breathe properly anymore. Knowing that the Mastino is now in their clutches does not sit well with me. Thank God there are breeders like my dear friend Andreas who have the talent, the moral strength and the love for the breed to continue creating what I call a true Mastino... I know that what I am about to say here is not going to sit well with many people on this site but these are my believes nonetheless... The Mastino is not and should never be a breed for everyone. If all we want is a slobbery all people loving adorable dullard then the English Mastiff and the saint Bernard should fit the bill better than the Mastino ever could. I believe that there are 2 kinds of people who should never own a Mastino... 1) The kind of person who just wants a mean guard dog... Because that kind of person cannot see the Mastino's need for love, attention and affection. Such a person is not worthy of living next to K9 royalty in my opinion... And... 2) The kind of person that thinks they are big teddy bears, gentle giants or whatever else nonsense these dogs are called sometimes... Because such a person does not understand the warrior in this breed and is therefore unable to control them properly. These are the kinds of people who will cause BSL to raise it's ugly head all over the world until it will be illegal to own a real Mastino no matter how responsible some of us are. Changing the Mastino temperament just so weak people can own one is an unforgivable sin. If you want a dog with no fire and loves everyone including the burglar robbing you there are plenty of choices out there already. Let the Mastino be what he is... The Mastino is a lover and a warrior... Just as a real man should be...  That must be terrible news for Granny Travers... Since it has none of these qualities... The commodity mentality is blame for this !!! By this dumbing they have increased the market for their "COMMODITY"!! Mandy , Sir I do have take acception to your redneck statement ,Sir ...I fully embrace my redneckisms & I am comfortable with them ...A redneck makes his living by the sweat of his brow & the callouses on his hands...which...I personally dont think Mr Travers has EVER been capable of ....a day of HARD HONEST work ... | I do not think that a hard working man is a redneck... A glorious absence of intelligence is what I think of when I use the term. Any person that works hard and provides for their loved ones deserves the utmost respect. You are right though... Mandy I have to say that I for one totally agree with what you mentioned about a real Mastino... I also agree that the AKC has ruined many breeds. I was conversing just yesterday about Rotweilers and German sheperds in the AKC vs the rest of the world. I owned Rotties when I was a kid as wel as pitbulls and REAL German Sheperds were in many backyards where I am from. The German Sheperds were guards and actually had size and did work... Rotties I had were not allowed in the AKC since they didnt fit the AKC standard. They were too big... I was at a show a while back and I was talking to this attractive young handler with what I thought to be a puppy... I walked up to them and it was really nice acted just like a silly little puppy... i said your puppy is very sweet how old is it??? She turned and looked at me and said with an unhappy look like I just disrespected her mother " He is 3 yrs old"... This dog must have been at least 50 lbs... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THEIR SIZE??????? German sheperds same ting and the colors are horrible!!!! not to mention these dogs are too nice... A real German Sheperd or Rottie will not let you near its family without warning you if its owner hasnt made it okay... I seriously will not breed for an AKC ring... And I will not sacrifice for the sissy temperaments just so Everyone can own one... If you train your mastino correctly and work it and make it confident you wont have an uncontrolable loaded weapon and therefore the Mastino will be what its really supposed to be... I can tell you I have one that will not guard.. Could care less about being a working dog... I will not breed that. Iwill not let anyone else breed to him either... Now I disagree with you about English Mastiffs not being guards as well as St Bernardos because I know breeders of these dogs and let me tell you they have what it takes to be guards also... Not all but they are supposed to be guard dogs as well... Same goes for Great Danes... But once again People breed for the AKC ring in this country with the exception of a handful of breeders. So you are right a mastino is not for just anyone and its not a friggin teddy bear and neither are mastiffs and St Bernards. If you want a teddy bear get a Labrador or a Beagle... And lets stop breeding the sissy dogs so everyone can have one. | I agree with what you said about the GSD's and the Rotties... Other than size and looks the worst thing about the GSD these days is the fact that they are a different size dog in the front and back. I have no idea what crazy person decided that this is desirable or where they find the blind people to agree but it is a shame. These dogs can hardly run anymore. When I grew up there were still straight backed GSD's around. Much larger as you pointed out as well. I agree with what you said about the English Mastiffs and Saints as well... I know that they are supposed to be able to be guards but... I honestly think that these breeds have gotten to a point where they are just lovable dullards for the most part. If you know a few breeders who have dogs with some drive then they are the exception, not the rule. I am not saying that there are no E.M. or S.B that can guard... I am saying that if you asked me what breed you should get to keep your house safe these breeds would not jump to mind. E.M. and S.B. are bred to be slow and friendly for a reason... They have been changed to be more controllable for the average person in today's society. Most people these days have NO idea what it takes or how to control a 200 pound animal with drive and dominance. Weak people cannot control strong animals... It is as simple as that. The average owner of a S.B. or E.M. does not spend 3 hours a day working out in order to stay physically powerful... A person that does not have the mental strength and discipline to stay physically strong is not a good candidate for owning a hard dog with drive that out weighs them most likely. I know many will disagree with what I said about staying in shape and needing to be physically AND mentally strong because they will argue the point that a well trained dog is a controlled dog... That sounds great in theory... But as we have seen many times before and most recently in the case of that woman (her name escapes me right now) in San Francisco who had the 2 dogs that killed another woman reality is a different story... I think she had a Perro DePresa and something else... This woman was unable to save the victim even though she "tugged" and fought to get her dogs off of that poor individual. Had this woman been more realistic about her ability to control these animals the other woman would still be alive. I, for one, am happy to know that the woman who is responsible for a human dying got murder one. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case but rather the rule... MOST owners of large and powerful breeds are not fit to own them. Regardless of how un popular this makes me... If you cannot physically control a dog then you should not own that dog. I cannot tell you how often I have watched a woman or a small man at the dog park struggle to stop his or her dog from fighting with another only to be saved by me or another male who was there to safe the day. These people look as confident as can be until shit happens and then they are flailing helplessly screaming how their teddy bear never did anything like that before... These people want to own a big and powerful breed for whatever reason but once the dog decides to go berserk they end up looking like a midget on a basket ball court... This is one of my pet peeves and in my opinion cannot be excused. Training works 99 percent of the time but dogs are NOT machines that listen every time. They are individuals with a mind of their own. Anyone who thinks that a well trained dog will listen every time, under any circumstance and no matter what is happening is a fool. My dogs are very well trained and listen as reliably as any I have ever seen but I know them well enough to understand that they are complex beings who might one day make a decision of their own... When that day comes I will be able to physically stop them because I am prepared and able... All too often that is not the case... That is once again where people get hurt... This is how BSL creeps it's way into every place on earth. In the end I will have to pay for these people's mistakes because I will not be allowed to own the kind of dog I want to share my life with... Sorry about the rant... The rant was fine Mandy and of course very true, Sorry i have edited it to highlight your ponits and for me to make mine more clearly... Unfortunately it's a fact, most people don't envision what these dogs will be like, they know it's a big dog, and thats about as far as they get. Most do not consider how they will control a dog of this size prior to the occassion arising! Basically that is something a breeeder should stress to prospective buyers (and I'm sure most do)... but there are obviously those that just see the $$$ being handed over!!!
