Cherry eye how old was your Neapolitan Mastiff when you removed the cherry eye if you had to who tucked the cherry eye in and who cut the4 cherry eye out. I believe in cutting that bad boy out. How old was the dog when it was done has anyone here had a Neapolitan mastiff develop Cherry eye at the age of 3 years and up? With age comes more of a risk to put them under anaesthetic? Just questions. Thanks again!
"who knows what are the chances of him not come too?" I believe a big factor depends on what anaesthia the Dr. uses. Have you looked into the different types? some good reading: Click This Link
Khloe had cherry eye at the ripe age of 4 ms. and 5-6 ms old. We went w/ the cut out. Still took 3 surgeries, almost 4 (one eye was a bugger!) but alas some steriod eye drops finished it off. I've seen no problem so far w/ dry eye or anything. My Vet had prior experience w/ the neobreed too.

Anthony I have had a rescue foster who supposedly popped a cherry eye after the age of 3. I have yet to see it happen that old with one of my own, and I doubt that this dog really got it that late. She did have some corneal abrasions that hinted at her having it for longer than claimed.
When a dog of any age is scheduled to go under you need bloodwork and with mastini a pre surgery heart check and a monitor on them the whole time. Also, the type of anesthesia has a ton to do with it. Ask for something from the list that Kim posted that they can bring them out instantly, or very quickly. _________________________ Nikki Agrippina Mastino

Thanks Everyone I was just wondering I love asking stupid questions!
my vet comes to my house...we boost them bad boys up on the kitchen counter...he loads a syringe full of ketamine..attaches it to the leg with surgical hose and clamp....administers just enough for the dog to go under....then procedes with the syringe still attached to the leg...when the dog starts to stir...he administers a little more ...so on until done...hes been using that technique since 1965...without a hitch...being able to assist and observe is an awesome experience...one must try
