I reread my post and I did not mean to sound so harsh but I was really shocked at the severity of the curve. The breeder has been giving support to Mel but I think that this pup needs to be replaced or a refund offered.
Things happen that we have no control over as breeders but it is how you make things right that counts. I understand that the breeders have been concerned and have offered emotional support but nothing further. Perhaps Mel ..you should be asking them??? Do you have a contract?
Definately neuter him!!! I think he is going to have alot of pain during his lifetime and you will have to make the decision when enough is enough.
Linda you always shoot from the hips , which is what i appreciate so much about you. I dont think you are being harsh you are just calling it as you see it . You have been a great resourse for me with Nigel . Also you and i have talked alot about Nigel so you know all the things i have gone thru try to figure things out for him .
thanks for all the great links guys . and ansewing the ? nigel is 8 months old and i got him in decemeber so he hasent had a swim yet , lol its too cold . i am making an appointment with a new vet today , and will keep you all posted . Cheers Mel
swimming will tend to make him have to arch his back, while taking all the weight off his areas of stress...plus all the other benefits... ours have all swam at 6mos.... a follow the leader syndrome ...one tends to follow what the other dogs are doing

i have heard of this before and i know from Waylon this was also recommened . however its a small season in which we can swim in our lakes due to the cold . and the nearest city which offeres the water therapy for dogs is 2 hours from me . he is going back into the vet today for FULL exrays , of his hips hocks and spine . a different vet.
Geez linda, 2 post and all your concern has been about was financial concerns. Yes for your own personal interest we do have a contract, and I plan on upholding it with Mel. Thats between us. If you dont have any helpful info for Nigel could you keep the forum clear so people that truly can help Nigel will. I don't want this forum to be about breeders, that's already in the open. Read the forum header, it's about Nigel. Mel, tell them what the xrays showed, if anything, and does anyone know where she could send them for another eval?
its funny financial concerns ,do u have to pay this ??, iam sure mel is out of pocket 100.00 'S all righty cause of this ,, gas time and vet bills so ya its about financial concerns ,, cause u sold a bad dog for top dollar iam sure , and now its time for u to step up and do the right thing here , as a ,,,,, breeder . its not mel's falut , but why does she have to keep paying out , with out breeder doing some thing other then talk ,, how about u do some thing to easy the pain on mel like give her cash back , so she can put it towards vet bills , and not be out any more then she is , iam sure this has taken a toll on her and her kids , this should be a happy time for all , not crying over a dog that should be happy that my 2 cent ,
Or other types of infections. When Max went to the neurologist he thought Max had an infection or he mentioned it could have be distemper those were the things he threw out there just based on observing him. He failed his neuro tests so they did the spinal tap and and the MRI and tested his blood. Everything came back ok. He said that he still felt like Max had some kind of an infection but even with all the technology they dont have the ability to test for every little thing. Another thing that i'll throw out there that could maybe cause the weakness and pain could be lyme. Although I dont really know too much about the symptoms that the dog exhibits when they have that. just thought i'd mention it.
