At 8.5 month my female Clelia is having her first heat... She has had hot spots for a week or so, and been nibbling and breaking the skin, loosing hair and generally looks a rather tatty mess at the moment...
I have used rock sulpher before to help cool the blood and it has worked on other females during their heat cycle, but doesnt seem to be working on Lia... I am now treating with cream 3 times a day, but just wondered if anyone has any tried and tested more natural remedies for this?. Visit my web site: Click me
My ultimate favorite thing to do is to shave the area to let the air at it, in order for the scab to form and the area to stay dry...I will admit too that I am a scab picker when it gets thick so that air can get at it again.
I also have these wipes that I use on my shepherd sometimes...I think they work well. Kate and the zoo
nikki...after the first dose...then another a week later...the muscular injection not Intravenous...remember 1ml, Ivermectin for each 80lbs...i also bathed the dog 3 times in that period with Vet-Kem, triple action medicated shampoo...it was almost unnoticeable after 2 weeks
For HOT SPOTS try mixing equal parts of Listerine, Baby Oil and water. i put in a small spray bottle, spray the area thoroughly, massage the solution into the skin, and the problem should stop almost immediately. use when you think she is starting one or on them already started. this also works on human for dandruff. i wouldnt use it in long hair though unless you sleep on it and wash it out.
Listerine has herbal oils (thymol, eucalyptol, menthol, methyl salicylate) in it that may have anti-fungal activity.
sorry i didnt see this sooner. havent heard of the Rock Sulphur...i may give that a try to.
good luck! Charina Corrado Mastini 317.213.9033 Click me
Thanks guys... I have been trying to rid it with hibiscrub baths and a cream prescribed by the vet which has worked fine on other females previously, but i think the heat here at the moment and that fact that she is in season...has flared it up double dose ...
Phil recommended aloe vera and i have a plant here i can use en naturale, so i am going to try that first but i'll try and get hold of the ginger and violet stuff too...
