I arrived at the yard/ stables in the horse lorry. Got out of the lorry and went round to the side to let the steps down so Pamplemousse could climb down. The usual dogs were there 2 Norfolk terriers and 1 labrador, sitting in the yard whilst i parked the lorry.. Pamps climbed down the steps, one of the terriers ran across the yard and Pamplemouse chased and grabbed it. It all happened very quickly.
hmmmm.... welp great prey motivation ...i am new to the breed , my male neo tolerate small dogs and cats , but has been know to be a bit of a bully with dogs his own size . My blood hound given the opurtunity would eat any thing that scurrys or moves quik including kitties and small dogs . just this morning at the vet My girl ellie was startled my the vet he came up behind her and touched her back she resonded quikly and gave a good grrr, and then imediatly calmed down , and forgave ..lol i remember reading on here once that any "unprovoked" agression , is a no no. My biggest concern is that if i am correct she seems to be bullying YOU? and others ?correct me if i am wrong . that to me is a BIG problem one that must be taken seriuosly, i have had the same problem here with obeidience trainers who were just way to wishy washy , i am lucky in that i did find one that is ammazing she employs the leeburg philosophy Click me good luck too you ! this is a good thread i will be interested to see what advice others offer ! thanks for posting. Cheers Mel
I also live in the UK and its nice to see some more of the british owners joining this great site.
Have you discussed these issues with Lesley. I know she has her hands slightly full right now but she would be the best person to advise you on the temperament of the Dam and Sire. She's also been in the breed forever!!!!!!!
Two of my dogs dont tolerate any other breed and I just have trained them to an extent so that I can deal with it when I am outside even though both out weigh me. I am also quite small at 5 foot 3 but have managed to train them that Im the boss. Just read the psychology behind it and its not even hard. And . . . its nothing to do with stature. Just presence, perserverance and consistency.
I have no idea if you are a member of the UK club but there are some great people in there and it also gives you access to most of the long standing neo owners and breeders within the UK. If you would like any info just message me.
Good luck. julie

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Sorry but you need to have total control of your dog if you are dealing or in contact with joe public and their dogs, its just not acceptable to let a dog become dog aggressive its nothing to do with your actual size YOU HAVE TO BE ALPHA no ifs or buts, any breeder who comes out with cr*p thats its just the breed are breeding un-temperament testing dogs which is wrong, it costs a lot of money to get proper assessments which explains why most breeders dont test , with all the rubbish we have to put up with in the UK it wont take too many cases of Neo's attacking other dogs then this noble breed will be a candidate on the D.D.A list along with the Japanese tosa/Fila Brasileiro/Pit Bull Terrier/Dogo argentino, its sad but true. I read you are a novice owner and not trying to say I'm in anyway an expert but our breeder checked us out a lot and you cant buy one of his dogs for love nor money if you have nt had experience of owning dominant breeds. I am aiming this at the pet owner like yourself not anybody who uses their Neo for personal protection or the like, but they know way more than us anyway about dogs. IMHO you need to stop this unacceptable aggression ASAP, get professional help by someone who is an expert not one of the many idiots here in the UK who say they are an expert, if you want the name of someone who will help give me a PM and I'll give you his number. I am appalled by the UK Club so I would nt ask them the time of day, they probably would nt know it anyway, please get proper help, this could get out of hand. Sorry to be blunt but I have the breeds reputation at heart. Gray.
Firstly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who took the time to post a thread or send me a personal email. the encouragement, support and advice was all very much appreciated and I am extremely grateful.
Since my last post on here, we have made several changes and found a positive and suitable trainer to help us. Our biggest issue seemed to be my position was below Pamplemousse in the 'pack'. This has now changed and I am back on top. Walking, recall and obedience has now moved forward in a way I feel comfortable with and can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I feel more confident in Pamplemousse now instead of stressed, waiting for the next incident and I am in control. Most of what I was doing was correct but I was not 'following through' and had reached a wall - this is where the trainer has come in. We will continue to have fortnightly sessions which are enjoyable and rewarding. The subtle changes in Pamplemousse were instant with I am really thrilled with her again.
P.S. There are no photos of her on here because I cannot work the photo up-loader, sorry!
