Hello i was just wanting to know if anybody has had the same problems Ruby is 18 months old and about a month about she started walking funny zig zagging and falling down with her head severly tilted to one side we took her to the vet he thought it was a ear problem we treated that it got better yesterday she just started falling down it looks like she doesnt want to put any weight on her right rear leg she falls over and has a really hard time getting up but then she will jump on the bed or start running with no problems we try to stop her but she still has tries to run or jump we stop her as soon as we see it. Her head is not tilting this time and we took her to the vet this morning all he said was he thinks something is seriously wrong neurologicly and she has an apointment at the university of columbus next wends. I am really concerned with this we always keep her weight down feed her a good deit and frequent trips to the vet. This is me and my wife's first neo and we are deeply concerned she is just so sweet and loving. I tend to lean torward genetics since she has had various problems and the breeder were not very much help other then informing us that severe overbite and demodex mange were very normal which i belive is not the case. I just feel so bad that we the breeders where not what they lead us to believe. Thats in the past i guess anyway any information would be great.
We had blood work ran when she had the tilted head a month ago everything came back good. Our family vet said it was beyond his expertise and recommened we see a specialist
I don't have a Neo *yet*, but hopefully someone here can answer your questions. If not, then here are 2 very good resources for you to post to.
yahoo K9 Nutrition group: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9Nutrition/ Lew Olson (Rottie owner/handler/nutritionist) owns the group, but the focus of the group is NOT breed-specific. There are many helpful members on this group; many of whom are large/giant breed owners. This group covers nutrition, as well as Health, issues. This group will want you to POST all the blood test results, as well as any other test results you have, in order to best help you. Many of the members are either vet techs, dog breed researchers, dog breed journal authors, as well as owners/show people/breeders, etc. This group has helped me immensely.
yahoo Mastiff Health group: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/MastiffHealth/ This is another great group to go to for health issue, specifically those in the various "mastiff" breeds. I'm sure either group can help you, but post on BOTH. Same as with the above group, post ALL the test results you have. The more info you give them, the better they can help you. Though I don't have a Mastiff yet, I do lurk here and have found the site to be a great source of info regarding mastiff health issues.

Did your bloodhound show any signs or pain? Ruby does not act like she is pain when using her leg. She loses her balance easily, almost like she is drunk. When pivoting on her back leg we notice it alot. My vet was at a loss, he did't know what was wrong. I feel like it has something to with her central nervous system from what I've been reading. I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen any of the symptoms ruby is having.
except for the head tilt I would suspect wobblers syndrome, is she still tilting her head or has that went away ? If it is gone inner ear problem maybe ?
Her head tilt has went away. The vet gave her antibiotics then and it got better. Now we just have the unbalanced and uncooridnated movement. After researching all day, I was thinking wobblers also. Is this common in neos and is she to old for wobblers? Thanks for replying back so quickly!
