Docking, dew-claws and Ear cropping will no longer be a service provided by Vets in New Brunswick. At the NBVA Annual meeting in what was a very close vote (counted twice to confirm totals) these practices where now deemed unethical and cruel. Any vet offering the service after a set six month transition period will risk losing their license.
For those that figure well we can do it ourselves...think again...the vets responsible for sliding this through, next step is to make it a criminal offence under the SPCA Act.
Something needs to be done. Is there a group that is fighting this law? I know it is in Canada but I feel for Linda. It is the owners choice to crop or not to crop. I prefer the crop and to be honest if it isn't docked or cropped it just doesn't look right to me. If I wanted ears and a tail I would have done English!
Linda good luck with the good fight if there is anything I can do to help our friends up in Canada I'm free. Doc Allevamento Del Vincenzo Click me
I groomed dogs for over 15 years and I tell ya when it comes to breeds with heavy ears and deap cannals, it's all just a scam. Some dogs go through a life time of ear infections, and the pain is unreal. It affects all aspects of who they are. The vets even cut through the cheeks of cocker spaniels to give them a deeper cannal because the inside of the ears get so infected they actually become like colly-flower. If they cropped the ears they would stay dryer, be more functional and cleaner. Lets see, 5 minutes of pain or a lifetime of ear infections. Vets and do good ignarant bleeding hearts really piss me off. Cathy
