Because in high speed you first see if the dog is capable at all to move fast and in fast speed you see then if the dog maintain a correct gait. Many problems occurs first when the dog start to move fast and so many mastini today are still problem movers and can not even have walking speed without showing lot of problems. See the long rear leg stretch on Finalmente and also his front legs movement! Topline, tail, are the legs perpendicular correct and so on which gets more accentuated in high speed when the dog use more force/power.
Good reach & drive from his rear ..He does not pull himself along with his front like ALOT of the bigger Mastini do ..
I don't think that size have any relations with the front legs movement, I had a big male with such front movement and smaller mastini as well with same stretch. Is about shoulder angulations and probably something we cant define.
Ronnie I am sorry there was a misunderstanding & I did not explain myself better. I have personally seen larger Mastini here in states , do what we call the Italian " SWING " where as they get little or no drive from the rear end & the rear swings from side to side like a pendulum. Also I have seen smaller dog with straight hocks move very stilt legged....BOTH ....types pull themselves along with their fronts .....I personally despise dogs with no push/drive from their rears....This dog has excellent reach with his front & GREAT push/drive with his rear .... Italian swing LOL that was funny and completely understandable. I remember Papalia to call that for woman walk LOL
I love this dog! Carnera was my all time favorite. With Finalmente .. I love the thick well angulated rear on him. So many dogs are straight stifled or have thin rears....I appreciate a dog that the front and rear are in proportion.
