True Breeders do strive to start their own line...but, in doing so they must be mentored and start with a line until it tapers off into their own.
There seem to be a couple of true lines here in the USA people are working with, and I hope they stick with them. There are also some brewing overseas waiting to come over in a year or two. Mentorship is a key factor as some turn out to be not what they once were, but you still see the glimmer through the gray. [/quote1246488554]
You are right of course... If someone is starting out one has to wait and see what their contribution to the breed will be. We all have started somewhere at some point but... We are not talking about a beginner here. The man is so old he farts dust. He has been around the Mastino for longer than just about anyone and yet there is no success of any kind. You cannot count a show winner which was created by using 2 good dogs from other breeders in order to produce the animal. That is not a success for the guy that watched the dogs mate but should be credited to the other 2 breeders who's dogs produced the offspring which won the show. Again... In any other business where a person tried to succeed and failed since the time of the great flood people would say maybe this is not for you...? After all these years all Travers has to show for is failure, dog abuse, dog neglect, many ripped off Mastino lovers and the occasional "success" generated by dogs which were bred by REAL breeders. That is NOT what anyone could call a legacy. He is a failure as a Mastino breeder... He is a failure as a human being as we have seen by the mountain of evidence of abuse, fraud and theft... He is the poster child for failure on every level. If someone is genuine and trying to do good we must be supportive. But if someone has been a rip off since the ice age I think it might be time to close the door... Don't you think...?
I was talking about Breeders in general as you were in your post Mandy. I have tried to reach out to Travers to see what drives him. TBH, the Breed has past him over...its more about what you said in you general statements.
Yeah, thing that scares me about your post is that there are peopl in the South that believe in him. One thing is also that many of of us...inclundinding me, saw him him as a future mentor. I have nothing to lose or gain except for future prospectects by calling him out. I've already tried with IC, but dumb "Filtered Word" apoke up (i like the guy)...we'll see what happens next.
I know... There will always be a new crop of newbies he will be able to fool as long as we don't drive him out of the dog business for good. I think that there are some people at the other site who are still protecting him. God knows why...?
This person recieved a 30 day suspension 3-4 months ago. I was there along with 5 other people.
We were at show in Montgomery,AL., at around 4-5 pm, the group of us plus this person decided to grab a bite to eat inside the building. He and one other left their dogs in the back of their trucks in wire crates under a tree to utilize the shade.
We were inside eating and talking away for about an hour, as time progressed, the sun shifted exposing the dogs in the sunlight.
Unknowing how our breed pants, a concerned exhibitor notified a couple of AKC reps. Now, I am positive that the majority of people here or anywhere know how these AKC reps, or Supers, or committees, or exhibitors are really like; but they are a very strict (no nonsense) type of bunch which may be a good thing. I mean, the majority even get pissed how Neapoitan Mastiff exhibitors show their inexperience and manners in the ring.
Well, to set an example, the Rep decided to give one person and not the other a 30 day suspension and a $100 fine. She fully understood that no harm or foul play was intended but she had to do it since she was called upon. I can guarantee if someone meant harm they would get suspended for life.
About the other things, I am sure some or most are very true and some may be false but I will do as I always do; mind my biz .
Perfect example of how you get spun up, and then get hit with the facts, lol.
Carlos has a good point with "not my buis"...many do turn a blind eye to what is going wrong...its all good untill it hits them, lol...then most of of us deal with like men...we handle it with the breeder or a third party....but....NEVER THESE DAMN FORUMS, LOL. Anthony
