Hey! I just had another thought!
You could call Dr Allen for a consult...

I recently spoke with her regarding a big problem, and she was very helpful.

Just a thought.

I do hope all pups pull through, poor things. At least you all are trying everything you can and not settling for one opinion. I do agree with Anne, I don't think it would hurt to try contacting Dr. Allen (the number to her clinic is on the Ironstone website), she sure does know her stuff. Good luck and do keep us updated.

Teri and I have tried to come up with everything possible that could b wrong.
Today she called and was telling me about this post and how everyone was coming back with all these possiblities.
Then she said something that caught my atttention. Acid Reflux!!
2 of my daughters had acid reflux as infants 1 almost died from aspirating on it.
They both were on Previcid until they grew out of it
The Acid Reflux would not explain the pneumonia however she could have 2 different things going on.
I will be calling Cammie Vet Monday to pitch this idea to her.

Good call!!! Aspirating anything would cause pnuemonia, acid reflex damages the esophagus so it will be inflamed, and that would explain the cough...

Another question: How common is Laryngeal paralysis in Neo's??? I'm still trying to figure out what this problem. Nisse dropped suddenly on sunday night and had to be rushed to the 24 emergency clinic. I believe that Vet was insane. She keep insisting the dog had severe neck pain, and was convinced it was meningitis. She also wanted to keep for several days, charge me $2400 and do all kinds of ridiculous testing on her; including a spinal tap and putting fluid into her lungs and sucking it back out to test for different bacterias. Nisse was fine 2 hours prior to her episode... she threw up and then she dropped. Sounds to me like she aspirated, so why did this vet want to do a test to find out what was in her lungs??? We knew it was threw up! Please let me know if you have ever heard of this LP, and it's commoness in Neos.

Wow I have never heard of anyone else experiencing Laryngeal paralysis in their dogs before. I am assuming this is a pretty rare condition? Is this what all three pups have? Is it something genetic? Poor girl, what kind of prognosis did they give you for her? Best wishes and good luck with her.

I personally have never heard of LP in Neos. Not to say it couldnt happen. I am now leaning towards allergies. This breed has allergies bad. Comercial dog foods make it worse. Raw fed and natural preserved kibble does better on these dogs. I had one female that had a severe reaction to lysol for floors. I was not able to use certain cleaning products in my home. It took a lot of trial and era to find what she was allergic to.

How close are you to Cornell, or any other university? I would get a referral from your vet, and go there, and do it NOW!

Is it possible that these pups have some sort of respiratory parasite? Lungworm, perhaps?

What is your breeder doing for you? Have the parents any issues? I am hoping and praying for you.

Good luck,
Anne
