Hey Brook
Our system is slightly different - Best bitch and best dog get offered a challenge and you need 8 challenges under 5 different judges to obtain your championship. So it seems it is easier here in NZ to get your title as Leo did it after 8 outings (only 4 weekends with 2 shows a weekend).

Of course with not that many neos being shown what we are finding is that any dog can pretty much get titled if you show them enough... and not many judges know enough about the breed standard to refuse to give a dog a challenge...

I have only seen the challenge withheld once from a NSW judge but the same bitch got 3 other challenges that same weekend...

So, I find it a bit frustrating that we dont have much competition and that the neo owners arent bringing their dogs out because it means that average dogs are getting titled. (but at least they are out showing!!!)

Hang on Anne - night shift (again) and when I figure out how to put photos on here I will upload them...

Donelle

Donelle - did your post say that you can't import dogs whose ears have been cropped? Cropping is illegal? How long has that been in place?

Umm cant find any data but ear cropping has been illegal for ages in NZ. I have never seen a dog with cropped ears and Im.... umm, in my 30's (hehe give or take a few years).

Tail docking is allowed although there is a murmer from government that this too will be put froward to be outlawed as Australia has recently banned this practice. But the NZ Kennel club is strongly opposing any banning of tail docking.

So no we cant show dogs with cropped ears and cant import them either...

Most neos are docked in NZ but Im lucky my boy is from OZ and has a lovely long (incredibly strong) tail...

Hi Donelle, yes it is strange how its not a similar scoring system. Australia can be quite time consuming, expensive and heaps of traveling to get your dog titled.

You need 100 points to title your dog here, you get 6 points for a win.

So it can take some time.
